For years Robert John Burck, better known as The Naked Cowboy had become a familiar site and staple of Time Square in New York City, but there was never a Naked Cowgirl. That was until September, 2005 when Louisa Holmlund dressed in her cowboy hat, pasties, mini skirt and cowboy boots, with her guitar swung over her shoulder made her debut in New York’s Time Square as The Naked Cowgirl. Many street performers have come to imitate Louisa since she left Time Square for good in 2012, but Louisa will always be the original and in many peoples minds the only Naked Cowgirl NYC.
